Description This course is aimed at presenting some useful tips related to preparation of documents for translation either in CAT Tools or directly in MS Office formats. The issues will cover dealing with non-editable formats, wordcounts, basic problems that tend to appear when you decide to switch to your first CAT Tool, as well as preparing auxiliary materials to be used during translation such as glossaries or TMs. No in-depth analysis of out-of-this-world functions. Only simple and time efficient operations to enjoy smooth translation process. What you get from here is a handful of practical procedures to be reproduced and/or modified for your own benefit. No beating around the bush — just pure practice! Target audience ✸ Freelancers who would like to improve their skills in preparing documents for translation. ✸ Translators who wish to improve their work efficiency and become more "technological". ✸ Freelancers who receive a lot of non-editable documents for translation but still deal with them manually. ✸ Beginners who are willing to develop the scope of their services. Program Click to expand ✸ Word/characters counting — differences between CAT Tools, MS Office, Open Office ✸ Pre-edition of a source file ✸ OCR Conversion — very basic tips with Abby FineReader and CAT in-build features ✸ Dealing with common issues — graphics, redundant line breakers, too many tags in CAT Tools ✸ Preparing initial glossary with no CAT Tools — „automatic” glossary in Word or Abby FineReader ✸ Using ready-made blocks for translation of repetitive documents with time-consuming graphic layout (e.g. birth certificates, etc.) Registration and payment information (click to expand) Click to expand To purchase your seat at this session please click on the "buy" button.
