Parliamentarian A.H.M. Azwer yesterday said that the Mahinda Chinthanaya is the first policy document in Sri Lanka that was translated into a foreign language. The Chinese translation of Mahinda Chinthanaya was launched at a function graced by Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao at the Great Hall of China.

Azwer said that the Sri Lanka envoy in China Ranjith Ugangoda has taken great efforts to translate the Mahinda Chinthanaya into Chinese with the help of a Chinese Professor.

He said that the Sri Lankan envoy in China presented the first copy to Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Parliamentarian said that the Chinese President expressed his happiness over achievements in Sri Lanka, credited to the Mahinda Chinthanaya when President Rajapaksa met the Chinese President during his recent official visit to China.

Over hundred journalists who were present at a press conference requested for copies of the Mahinda Chinthanaya translated into the Chinese language. External Affairs Minister Prof G.L. Peiris directed the Sri Lanka envoy in China Ranjith Uyangoda to fulfill their request.
