Chris Durban had a short piece that I ran into on the Internet about what it takes to create translation at the highest level of quality. This is “for publication” translation.

So how does “for publication” translation differ from “good translation” (I will just call it “good translation” for lack of a better term, what I mean is translation that is not really up to for-publication quality, but that is understandable and not terrible).

To illustrate that, she gave a translation that had been done from English into French – a financial document – to a friend of hers that works in Paris in finance.  The text had been done by a translator through a translation agency. More >>
