Not getting notifications? Check this out - Yahoo "blocked addresses" Thread poster: RichardDeegan

Although there's quite a bit of mileage on my odometer, I consider myself fairly up-to-date with the net and e-mail, especilly security and spam issues. So, when I started having problems receiving Kudoz and jons notifications, it obviously couldn't have been anything I did, right? Had to be due to MLK Day, a snowstorm blanketing Syracuse, or some other factor. Turns out that somehow "Bounce-handler" wound up in my Yahoo "blocked addresses". How did this happen? I have no clue... See more Although there's quite a bit of mileage on my odometer, I consider myself fairly up-to-date with the net and e-mail, especilly security and spam issues. I have no clue, but it's obviously something that I, and I alone, did. Some combination of buttons, a wrong click here or there, and Presto! So, if anyone else has problems with receiving mails, check the things that couldn't go wrong in a million years first.

Hi Richard, I'm happy to hear you got this figured out, and it's good advice to check this type of setting. Sometimes it's difficult to see just why this type of problem is happening. I mentioned this in your support request, but I'd like to post some information here as well, to help anyone else who may experience similar problems, as I've found it sometimes helps in "narrowing down" where the hang-up is: If you are a site member, you have the option of using your Mai... See more Hi Richard, I'm happy to hear you got this figured out, and it's good advice to check this type of setting. Sometimes it's difficult to see just why this type of problem is happening. I mentioned this in your support request, but I'd like to post some information here as well, to help anyone else who may experience similar problems, as I've found it sometimes helps in "narrowing down" where the hang-up is: If you are a site member, you have the option of using your Mail Monitor to see whether certain notifications are being sent to you. To access your Mail Monitor, just go to the "My ProZ.com" tab at the top of the page and select "My notifications". There you can enter the number of a job or KudoZ question for which you should have received notification, and the monitor will show if the notification was sent to you, and when, or if the notification was not sent to you, and possible reasons why (this is often due to email settings in your profile, or possibly difficulties with your email provider). The monitor also offers some helpful information useful in checking out or resolving these problems.
