Dear All,

As a starter, here is a site that lists budget air routes operating to/from Budapest.

In addition, regular airlines also operate to/from Budapest.

Altogether, almost 100 airports are connected directly with Budapest.

Participants from neighbouring countries may prefer arriving by land transport.

Eurolines (international buses)

European train timetable

There are two airports in Budapest, but they are very close to each other. Low budget airlines use Ferihegy 1, the old terminal, while regular airlines use Ferihegy 2, the new terminal. They are about 5 kms apart, about 10 minutes
by taxi.

Budapest Airport

The following airlines fly to terminal 1:
EasyJet, GermanWings, Jet2.com, Norwegian Air, SkyEurope, Sterling and WizzAir

The following airlines fly to terminal 2A:
Aer Lingus, Carpatair, CSA Czech Airines, Malév and Moldavian Airlines

All other airlines fly to terminal 2B.

2A and 2B are VERY close to each other, the entrances are just a couple of hundreds of meters away from each other.

Taxi sharing information: please enter your own arrival info (flight number, departure city, date and time of arrival, terminal) in your bio text in the Participants tab of the conference page.

Detailed info later Dec 16, 2006

I'm planning to compile a detailed list of practical information, including airport transfer, some time in March.

As a prelimiary hint, a taxi would cost around HUF 4000 (EUR 16) to the hotel. There's also a minibus service that works out cheaper if you travel on your own. If there are at least two peope travelling together, a taxi is cheaper.

By public transport, you need three tickets, costing a total of HUF 565 (EUR 2.1). It takes about an hour by public transport to

A taxi takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on the time of the day.

Wizzair promotional sale through today Jan 8, 2007

Looking into making my own arrangements, I noticed that Wizzair has a promotion running currently (through today). Apparently you can fly from Frankfurt to Budapest, for example, around the dates of the conference, for 0 euro (paying only taxes and fees.)

Special offers are on from SkyEurope from 9 to 14 January.

SkyEurope Jan 11, 2007

As far as I know the current campaign of SkyEurope is valid only for flights completed before March 25th, but you should double check.
I also noticed on their website (www.skyeurope.com) that they recently added a Rimini-Budapest flight.

There are many cities in Italy with a direct connection to Budapest:
Torino, Bergamo, Venezia, Rimini, Firenze, Roma, Napoli and Palermo.

taxi share Mar 24, 2007

Is anybody else arriving at the airport on Friday at about 18:00 and if so, do you want to share a taxi?

As a general idea for all those arriving at the airport on Friday and Saturday, maybe it is worth making a Proz sign and holding it up outside the arrivals hall. I expect it wouldn't take long for before being spotted by another delegate.

By default, three passengers fit in a taxi besides the driver.

There are some larger taxis as well, but you have to specifically order them by phone.

Sharing a taxi Apr 24, 2007

I will arrive at Budapest airport from Gatwick, flight 5443, at 16:30 on Friday 27 April.

Is anyone arriving roughly at the same time that wants to share a taxi? I know I have left it a bit late, but please do let me know if you would share a taxi to the hotel where the conference will take place.
