It is now six months after the release of the current KudoZ design, and we are preparing to retire the older designs for good. After April 23, 2006, the old KudoZ designs will no longer be available.
If you currently view KudoZ using one of the older designs, please switch to the current one by clicking "Switch to standard design" at the top of any KudoZ page.
If there are problems with the current design that prevent you from switching, please report them in this forum... I've been here from just about the beginning. I understand the need for upgrading web services like ProZ.com. I also understand the work that has gone into creating the new look and services.

For a casual or light user the navigation is not intuitive. I do not have the time or desire to be deciphering the structure of the site and its navigation. Therefore, the result is less desire to be coming back for quick jaunts, which is the mode of use I have employed for years. That's too bad.

Are you referring to the new site design, rather than the new KudoZ design?
If so, a new site map is available (under the "Home" menu) that provides a comprehensive navigational guide to ProZ.com. Please try it out and see if you find it helpful.

We understood it, it enabled quick referencing, it was easy to read.

Once I read your question I wasn't quite sure what I was referring to. The reason is that 99% of the time I go straight to KudoZ. However, once I pondered the distinction your question made between "new site design" and the "new KudoZ design" I took a second look.
From my perspective there might be differences, yet, on the face of it, the problem - defined as my "user experience" - is quite the same.
Generally, I don't use site maps because I don't - and shouldn't - need them. I find that when I cry uncle and look at the site map it is only an indication that the site is a mess and the site map is not an answer. Once in a great while, when I'm looking for something specific and can't find it, the site map does help. But then I am more likely to search the "current site" with Google.
It took me a while to get to it but I did look at your site map a few minutes ago. It only confirmed my experience described in the previous paragraph.
Frankly, your site has grown a lot. It is quite an accomplishment and I tip my hat to you all.
By the same token, it's perhaps too big for you to try to fundamentally keep the "look and feel" of the original and provide new structure and functionality at the same time.
I certainly can't advise you based on my casual use and cursory examination. But I stand behind my evaluation:
1) My experience has been degraded and it is a pity.
2) To fix the problem would require
a) the realization there is a problem
b) more than the requisite capacity to design a functioning web site.
