How easy is it to learn?
A great asset in 90% of cases

Rowena Fuller (X) . A great time saver for most cases. That said it is not really much help for literary translations, where the matecat 'weighted' word count can be very punitive to the translator. Perfect for manuals, engineering, building, general translation, etc.

How easy is it to learn?
Excellent for advanced users and beginners alike

Dmitry Zaikin . I used this tool to translate and edit over 100K words. Having used MemoQ and Trados before, I can say that machine translation quality here is better. I like the ease of project management for multiple translators. Easy to learn functions of creating project term bases. Automatically created Translation Memories available for download for future use. And it's very easy to work with tags.
Considering that the tool is free, it's a definite winner. Better than SmartCAT in my opinion.

How easy is it to learn?
The worst CAT tool I know

Lena Edich . MateCat limits the creativity and only works for really simple content, but not for high quality marketing content

How easy is it to learn?
Not Great but Free

Translate OT . My translation tool is Google Translate, so I'm coming from the point of view of someone who does not use or know how to use Trados, etc. MateCat is Google Translate with a shell over it, like a VW bug engine and chassis with a Porsche body on it. Others familiar with translation tools might like the shell but I don't. For one reason: MateCat analyzes/translates sentence by sentence. I prefer to look at the output paragraph by paragraph, and in MateCat it is impossible to see 2 sentences together unless you just download your output file and work on it yourself.
I do mostly literary translation and Google (and therefore MateCat) is horrendous. At least for me, who only translates into English. So I am surprised at the reviews which say MateCat does a good translation. Perhaps MateCat works better in the other direction, from English into a target language. Perhaps others are translating boilerplate marketing or technical.
But on the other hand, MateCat is free. And if you have your own glossaries or access to a TM better than Google, maybe MateCat is the cat's meow.
