English to Thai: Intel teams with DreamWorks to take animation 3-D
Source text - English [Quoted from http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9107938&intsrc=news_ts_head]
July 8, 2008 (Computerworld) DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. is pushing Advanced Micro Devices Inc. aside to team up with rival chip maker Intel Corp. as it makes the big transition to 3-D animated films next year.
DreamWorks and Intel announced today that they are forming an alliance, with Intel supplying the animators with multicore chips. Last year, DreamWorks announced that it will be going entirely 3-D by 2009, beginning with the film Monsters vs. Aliens, which is scheduled for release next March.
"Our objective is to significantly heighten the moviegoing experience," DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg said in a written statement. "Technology plays a significant role in enabling our artists to tell great stories. By utilizing Intel's industry-leading computing products, we will create a new and innovative way for moviegoers to experience our films in 3-D."
However, good news for Intel is bad news for AMD.
In April 2005, AMD was the one announcing a partnership with DreamWorks -- a three-year strategic alliance aimed at advancing computer-generated filmmaking. Now, Intel is the one touting an alliance.
"This is not good news for AMD," said Charles King, an analyst at Pund-IT Inc. "Anytime Intel takes business away from AMD, especially in high-performance computing, it's a big win for them.... In the short-term, it's probably worth more in prestige than money... but being the processor associated with next-generation 3-D animation could be very lucrative over the long term."
King noted that being associated with the Star Wars movies was a major boon for Silicon Graphics Inc.
In addition to supplying DreamWorks with multicore chips, Intel said its engineers also will work on building parallel applications that can take advantage of the multicores.
DreamWorks has released such movies as Shrek, Over the Hedge, Bee Movie and Kung Fu Panda.

English to Thai: A happier face without surgery
Source text - English [Quoted from http://www.dailyxpress.net/2008/07/03/lifestyle/lifestyle_3342.php]
By the time we reach middle age there's less collagen and elastin in our facial skin, resulting in wrinkles and sagging.
Apart from surgery and the daily use of skincare products, what else can be done?
There are three main non-surgical answers.
There's the "temporary facelift", which uses technology such as ultrasound, aesthetic lasers or RF - radiofrequency.
These methods provide immediate results and the treatment is simple, generally taking an hour. But the effects only last a week or two - if you're lucky.
Then there's the "laser facelift" using ND-Yag, which is more like a maintenance programme. Results usually take one to three months to appear because the collagen and elastin have to be regenerated.
In one study, people who'd had a laser-facelift treatment once a month for five months showed noticeable results. Their facial skin had indeed been lifted and they had fewer wrinkles.
The effects of this painless procedure last nine to 12 months, and can be maintained with one or two treatments a year. The average cost is Bt40,000 to Bt50,000 per course.
Finally, there is unipolar radiofrequency. It's more painful and usually costs between Bt70,000 and Bt120,000, but the results can be dramatic.
Each individual responds to this treatment differently, so in terms of effectiveness, it can be said to be unpredictable.
