Bio

Through 18 years’ working in the language industry – as a
project manager, PhD researcher and freelance linguist – I have developed
strong specialisms in academic editing and marketing
translation/transcreation (especially food, travel, tourism and sports/outdoor
clothing). As a UK English localizer and language consultant, I have had the
privilege of working long-term on web marketing for a major US brand known for
its localization prowess.

My love affair with the French language began at a very young
age, when (I’m told), I started teaching myself from a bilingual kids’ dictionary.
I’m still learning today and consider this a great privilege of my profession. The
evolving nature of languages and cultures means there is always something new
to learn! I qualified as a professional translator with a Distinction from the
MA Translation Theory and Practice programme at University College London. After working
in project management for 4 years, I was awarded a scholarship by the Arts and
Humanities Research Council to complete a PhD in translation studies research,
investigating the way global news is translated.
