Bio

Born in London to British parents and
raised bilingual in Italy, Sarah
Jane Webb grew up in a house full of books and developed a passion
for reading and writing. After several years as a PA Secretary, first in London
then in Milan, she left office work, acquired a teaching certificate, and
started teaching English and translating commercial and creative texts. In 2006
she moved with her partner and cats to a hilltop hamlet in sunny Liguria, where
she switched to translating narrative.

Over the years, Sarah Jane Webb has
translated various books:

The Feline Comedy by Mozot (M. Ivana
Trevisani)

Burn Slowly (Fabio Casto)

Cats (Flavia Capra)

Impermanence (Daniel Frisano)

The Memory of Events (Carlo Giuseppe
Zuozo)

The King of Cats (B.F. Barbantini and A.
Raso)

The Scent of a Family (Alessandra
Cortese)

and various
others still in the pipeline.

Sarah Jane Webb
specialises in the translation and editing of short fiction and novel excerpts.
Her work has appeared in several Anglophone publications, including The Sunday
Times’ Crime Club; Akashic Books’ Fri-SciFi; Speculative Fiction
in Translation; 50-Word Stories; Trafika Europe; Words Without Borders; Sunspot Lit; Global
Science (published by ASI, the Italian Space Agency).

She also translates poetry, nursery
rhymes, videogames, game-books,  role-playing books, as well
as creative non-fiction.

In 2018, she contacted a number of emerging
and established Italian authors and invited them to contribute some micro-narrative,
which she then translated, giving life to a small anthology of Italian
speculative fiction.  In 2019, her
translation of stories by Simonetta Olivo, Emanuela Valentini and
Francesco Verso were showcased in Words Without Borders.
Other authors involved in the project were: Cleide Bartolotti, Dario Tonani, Franci
Conforti, Laura Scaramozzino, Linda De Santi, Lorenzo Crescentini, Maico
Morellini, Naiche Anderson, Nicoletta Vallorani, Piero Schiavo Campo, Stefano
Teatini, Carlo Vincenzi, Valeria Barbera. These featured earlier the same year
in the genre-specific webazine Speculative Fiction in Translation run by
Rachel S. Cordasco.
