Source text - Spanish This is the first 135 words of a legal document from Guatemala concerning the sale of a vehicle. There are errors in the document (capitalization and spelling) which I corrected in the translation but did not omit here.
Yo, XXXXX, de veinticuatro años de edad, soltero, Estado unidense, estudiante, me identifico con pasaporte número #######, extendido en la Republic de Estados Unidos de Norteamérica; por éste acto manifiesto que me encuentro libre, en mis derechos civiles tanto en mi país de origen como en éste país en el cual estoy de paso como turista, y que por convenir a mis intereses personales PRIMERO: Vendo por éste medio al señor XXXXXXXXX, el vehículo descrito en la siguiente manera,y del cual soy legítimo propietario, declaración que hago bajo juramento de ley y en todo caso me someto al saneamiento legal como lo acredito con duplicado del certificado numero #####, expedido por el administrador y cheque de aduana del Municipio de XXXXXXX, de éste departamento, aduana por la cual ingresé el identificado vehículo, con fecha de uno de abil del año en curso.

Canadá quiere TLC con CA-4
El embajador concurrente de Canadá pidió al canciller Samuel Santos que Nicaragua impulse las negociaciones a nivel regional para lograr el acuerdo comercial.Canadá anunció hoy, en Managua, su interés de "continuar trabajando a fin de concretar" un acuerdo de libre comercio con cuatro países de Centroamérica. El embajador de Canadá en Costa Rica y concurrente en Nicaragua, Mario Lague, informó al canciller Samuel Santos sobre esas intenciones. Canadá junto a Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras y Nicaragua han explorado la posibilidad de firmar un Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC), negociaciones que fueron reanudadas el año pasado, tras estar suspendidas por dos años.
Estos países centroamericanos forman el denominado grupo CA-4, los cuales han avanzado en materia de unificación de aduanas, migración y comercio en el marco del proceso de integración regional. En un encuentro de ambos diplomáticos, celebrado en la sede del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Lague señaló que en la última ronda de negociaciones, realizada en octubre de 2006, "hubo puntos de entendimiento en los temas de textil, vestuario y azúcar". Sin embargo, añadió, aún hay temas, que no identificó, sobre los que no se han logrado acuerdos.
El embajadora canadiense comentó además a Santos que su país "desea explorar si hay interés por parte de Nicaragua de impulsar las negociaciones a nivel regional e incluso a nivel bilateral", según un comunicado de la Cancillería de Managua.
Lague afirmó que hay una "voluntad clara" del gobierno canadiense de darle prioridad a la cooperación de América Latina, en la que Nicaragua "se encuentra en la lista de países prioritarios", añadió la fuente.
Las negociaciones comerciales entre este grupo de países y Canadá se iniciaron en el año 2000, pero fueron suspendidas en 2004 debido a obstáculos impuestos por ambas partes, y reanudadas en 2006. Costa Rica no participa debido a que negoció y suscribió ya, de forma bilateral, un acuerdo comercial con Canadá.
Por su parte, Nicaragua informó que los principales productos de exportación a Canadá han sido el café, azúcar de caña, oro, cacao y vestuario; mientras que las importaciones han sido principalmente de maquinarias, trigo duro, grasa animal, plástico, papel. Canadá tiene inversiones en Nicaragua en sectores como minería, turismo, calzado y vestuario.

The Canadian consular requested of Foreign Minister Samuel Santos that Nicaragua encourage negotiations at a regional level in order to achieve a business accord.
Canada announced today, in Managua, its interest “to continue working to solidify” a free trade agreement with four Central American countries. The Canadian ambassador in Costa Rica and consular in Nicaragua, Mario Lague, informed Minister Santos of these intentions.
Canada together with Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua have explored the possibility of signing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), negotiations were resumed last year, after being suspended for two years.
These Central American countries form the group designated as CA-4, those which have advanced in regards to consolidation of customs, immigration, and commerce within the framework of the regional integration process.
In a meeting of both diplomats, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Lague indicated that in the last round of negotiations, completed in October of 2006, “There were points of understanding in the areas of textiles, clothing, and sugar”. Nevertheless, there are still areas, that he did not mention, of which they still have not reached an agreement.
The Canadian ambassador also commented to Santos that his country “would like to see if there is any interest from Nicaragua in encouraging negotiations at a regional level and at a bilateral level as well”, according to a communiqué from the Office of Foreign Affairs in Managua.
Lague confirmed that there is a “clear desire” of the Canadian government to devote itself to the priority of Latin American cooperation, in which Nicaragua “finds itself on a list of priority countries” added the source.
Commercial negotiations among this group of countries and Canada began in the year 2000, but were suspended in 2004 due to obstacles concerning taxation on both sides, and resumed in 2006. Costa Rica did not participate because it has already negotiated and endorsed, bilaterally, a business accord with Canada.
For its part, Nicaragua reported that the principle products of exportation to Canada have been; coffee, cane sugar, gold, cacao, and clothing; meanwhile its imports have mostly been machinery, hard wheat, animal fat, plastic and paper. Canada has investments in Nicaragua in the sectors such as mining, tourism, footwear, and clothing.

I am currently a Spanish teacher in a New York State Public High School. I have a Bachelors degree in Spanish from the State University of New York at Geneseo; however the place I was truly educated in the Spanish language was in Latin America. I have spent many years living, working and traveling in Latin America, which has not only given me fluidity in the language but also a wide variety of contacts and resources to draw from.
My course work in college was heavily laden with Language and Literature courses which developed my skills in weaving language into a coherent fabric without wrinkles and certainly without gaps. This knowledge allows me to find the best way to smoothly express ideas between languages without neglecting the significance of each word.
My prices are low because my primary job is Language Instruction. My job allows me the time to work on other projects at my leisure. I love translating and work very hard on each project to make sure that it is absolutely accurate and fluid.
