Translation - English The socially responsible investment (SRI) strategy of the company rests on three pillars:
An active policy of exercising its voting rights, based on public guidelines.
Adherence to universal principles such as those of the Global Compact of XX. On this account, the managers of the mandates of European assets management, which represent more than 5 billion euros as on December 31, 2005, have made some commitments to the company.
Incorporation into the processes of portfolio management and investment decisions of environmental, social and governing criteria, as factors supporting sustainable development. The launching of an invitation to tender offered to the SRI for an approximate amount of 600 million euros, has enabled the company in the 2nd quarter of 2006, to select and work with managers who share their philosophy taking into account the environmental, social and governing criteria.
In 2005, within the framework of this strategy, the company has taken part in the initiative of XX aimed at promoting responsible investor behavior and in 2006, has given its support to other initiatives such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) or academic research in the SRI domain.
Enclosure1
Prudential constraints of the company
The company is subject to various rules which limit its exposure to risk. It cannot thus:
• invest more than 5% of its assets in financial instruments of the same issuer (with some exceptions).
• invest more than 25% of its assets in shares or securities giving access to capital of companies with their registered office outside the European economic area.
• possess more than 3% of the shares or non voting shares of the same issuer.
• expose itself to exchange rate risk beyond 20% of its total assets.
