Translation - English The XXX clock, invented in 1928 by Jean-Leon Reutter, an engineer from Neuchatel, is an attempt to harness perpetual movement. This original timepiece with a classic, yet perfected mechanism, uses a special system to maintain movement. It has a chamber which contains a gas that reacts to slight changes in temperature and atmospheric pressure and which, transmits, by means of a system of springs, the energy necessary to maintain the oscillating – two times per minute – movement of the balance – a plate at the end of a taut-band. A difference in temperature of 1° C or a difference in atmospheric pressure of 26 hPa (or mb) ensures autonomy for two days. Sold as early as the 1930's by the manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Atmos clocks have become prestigious items, and have even become the Swiss Confederation's official gift.

Years of experience: 10. Registered at ProZ.com: Jan 2003.
My real specialty is human science, that is anything dealing with the human side of business be it marketing, management, insurance, educational, historical, political, economical, financial, psychological, cultural or dealing with alternative medicine, yoga, spirituality, literature, nutrition, tourism, art, etc. I have also done considerable (light) technical translations, dealing with machines, as in computers (SW manuals, some IT, automotive, product descriptions, etc.)
American born, US-educated, I have a US Bachelors degree and a French Studies Diploma from the Sorbonne.
From my professional beginnings in a college bookstore, on to writing promotional material for a college development office, words have always been my mainstay.
They escorted me to a literary agency, then on to an advertising agency and finally had me teaching English before setting up shop, with my French husband, in freelance translating and copywriting.
Since 1995, I have been translating, proofreading, rewriting and copywriting. I have collaborated with both private clients and agencies on technical matters, (SW manuals, product descriptions,) financial and insurance reports, business, marketing, and advertising projects as well as more prosaic endeavors dealing in tourism, culture, art, alternative medicine, spirituality, educational material and children's literature.
I love the vastness of words and the opportunities they have given me to sample and comprehend our humanness from many angles thanks to diversified subject matter.
Words are my professional tools, my friends, my brush and paint. Let me help you find the right words to get your ideas across effectively!
