My road toward becoming an ATA-certified Arabic to English translator began when I was born in Egypt in a family of career Presbyterian missionaries. As an American kid living in Egypt and attending an American school, I learned English as a primary language and Arabic as a close second. Later experiences that solidified my interest and expertise include two years of work in management of a Westinghouse subsidiary in Saudi Arabia and another two years translating and interpreting for United States Marine Corps military training teams advising officers and enlisted personnel of the Iraqi Seventh Infantry Division in Ramadi, Iraq. Prior to taking up online translation work from home, I worked for several years for two United States intelligence agencies. In 2017 I took and passed the American Translators Association AR>EN translation exam, thus becoming ATA-Certified in that field. My work for the past ten years has included the legal, medical, business and governmental fields. |
