Source text - English PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
A hydraulic rock grapple is an articulated arm assembly with a hydraulic grapple (claw) mounted at the end.
The hydraulic grapple is used to move oversize ore that is blocking the flow of ore through downstream equipment such as crushers, screens, and chutes.
The unit is mounted on a fixed pedestal and can swing to either side through a significant arc (for example, 280 degrees).
The swing drive is used solely for positioning the grapple.
The articulated arm assembly consists of three main components: the boom, the stick, and the grapple.
The boom is used to raise and lower the stick and grapple as needed.
The stick is used to position the grapple above the rock to be moved.
Finally, the grapple is used to secure the oversize ore in its claw while the ore is being moved to the desired location.
The operator controls the movement of the boom, stick, and grapple components using levers that are mounted on a control panel.
All functions of the rock grapple are operated hydraulically.
A hydraulic motor swings the boom in either direction.
The boom is raised and lowered by a pair of hydraulic cylinders.
A hydraulic cylinder positions the stick, and another hydraulic cylinder positions the grapple.
The grapple is hydraulically powered for rotation of the grapple, and two hydraulic cylinders are used to open and close the jaws.
Do not use the grapple rotation or boom swing drive power for pushing ore sideways; otherwise, damage to the rock grapple unit may result.
