Bio
I am a native Italian translator with a University degree in Translation and Interpreting. I have studied languages and linguistics since a young age. Aside my own language, I am competent in English and Slovenian and can deal nicely with Spanish. I can read German.

My highest priority at the moment, second only to my daughter, is to acquire extra skills and knowledge in the Translation industry. I am already managing my own team of translators.

On top of my skills as translator (language competence, translation awareness and techniques, attention to details), I have a passion for audio/video formats and understand very well subtitling related issues.

ME and LANGUAGE PAIRS

My name is Alice and I am a native Italian qualified translator with a Slovenian native background.
My husband, who is a linguist and works with me, is native English (UK). I mainly translate out of English, Slovenian and occasionally Spanish into Italian and out of Italian and Slovenian into English.

I have a degree in Translation and Interpreting. I studied English as first language and Slovenian as second language. Slovenian is also the language I used to speak as a child (bilingual family).

Slovenian:
I come from a bilingual Italian/Slovenian family (my father and his parents speak both languages, whereas my mother only speaks Italian). I was brought up in a Slovenian dialect environment (mostly grandparents) and proper Slovenian language use (primary school, my father and proximity of Slovenia). I lost a big deal of my chances with this language when my parents separated and I spent a consistent period away from my father; after that it was just awkward to speak that language with him again. I have taken Slovenian on board when I entered the school for interpreters and translators. The current situation is that I can deal with the language in a way that no non-native ever could, but am far from being native myself.

English:
English is the language that I have studied the longest and it's the language of my new family: my partner Tom, from Folkestone, UK, and our daughter Helena. Tom is a linguist and a capable translator. We've lived and worked for 3 years in England. I simply feel that English is part of me and, as a matter of fact, there is hardly anything I wouldn't be able to get through in an accurate and correct way.

SERVICES:
TRANSLATION, PROOFREADING, TRANSCRIPTION, COPYWRITING, CODING, SUBTITLING. INTERPRETING.

TAT: max 2000 words per day (as an individual translator)

FIELDS: I can work in a number of fields which I believe it is not necessary to list (Tourism, Business correspondence etc) and am a good terminology researcher. However, there are some fields where extra training or experience is necessary and are worth mentioning: I am talented in creative writing (Marketing, copywriting); I have a good knowledge of audio-video equipment, finance, contracts, philosophy of language and existence (ontology) plus anthropology and Ethnology, Linguistics (morphology, phonology and phonetic, grammar). I had some experience in Biological Engineering and Medical technology.

Italian native, resident Citizen.
