Ever since I was a child, I have always enjoyed video games. However, in my youth, it was very rare to buy a game translated to my native language. Without understanding the language, I would make inefficient decisions, have unexpected results and sometimes be unable to progress through the game. This made me experience a lot of frustration, and as I grew up, I have learned the value of translation. Eventually I found resources to translate and have been translating games, music lyrics, shows etc. for years. I learned to read, write and speak English without any paid English classes. Playing competitive games, I have also learned the value of translation and writing quality in video games, because not only the translation has to be efficient, but the original text must also be efficient at describing happens in the game, specially with game mechanics and abilities, as sometimes the text itself doesn't correspond correctly with what happens in the game. Then I realized I could work as a freelance translator, so I decided to study CAT tools, and now I offer my services as a translator here at PROZ. |
