Dos hermanos visitan a su madre que vive en un pueblo agredido por las constantes fumigaciones al campo. El ambiente tóxico y la atmósfera bucólica los convierten en monstruos que huyen al bosque.
Joaquín y Agustín ingresan a un pueblo contaminado por los agrotóxicos, próximo al campo de soja y un bosque. Su madre Aída los recibe en su cabaña. En el almuerzo, Agustín nota unos extraños bultos en la piel de Aída. Agustín duerme, Joaquín ve un animal en el ático y sube. Allí se encuentra con Aída convertida en monstruo. Agustín se despierta sólo en la cabaña, sale a buscar a su familia hasta llegar al campo. Allí Agustín se transforma en bestia y grita el nombre de sus familiares.
Aída respira con dificultad y camina hacia su cabaña. Agustín y Joaquín ingresan a un pueblo deshabitado próximo al campo y tosen al respirar el aire contaminado. Allí los recibe su madre Aída. Mientras almuerzan, Agustín nota que Aída tiene unos bultos negros. En la cabaña, Agustín duerme en la cama matrimonial, mientras Joaquín en el baño nota, con espanto, una extraña mancha en su cuerpo. En el living, Aída le confiesa a su hijo que no quiere dejar su hogar. Afuera se escucha el sonido de una avioneta. Joaquín mira por la ventana para buscarla, pero no logra verla y sale al patio. Busca la avioneta en el cielo, y ve una extraña figura en la ventana del ático. Intrigado, Joaquín sube por las escaleras hasta el ático. Allí se encuentra con Aída que lo abraza por detrás con las manos transformadas en garras. Agustín se despierta aturdido, está solo en la casa. Al salir al patio observa las prendas de su hermano y su madre en el pasto. Agustín corre por el campo buscando a su familia. Comienzan a brotarle unos bultos en todo el cuerpo. Su andar se vuelve la de un animal y cae al suelo transformado en bestia gritando los nombres de su hermano y su madre entre las plantas de soja.
Translation - English IN THE SKIN OF THE FAMILIAR (By Emilio López)
Two brothers visit their mother in a town afflicted by the constant fumigation of its fields. The toxic air and bucolic atmosphere transforms them into monsters and makes them flee into the forest.
Joaquín and Agustín arrive at a town polluted by toxic agrochemicals next to a field of soybeans and a forest. Their mother, Aída, greets them in her cottage, and during lunch Agustín notices some strange lumps on her skin. He goes to sleep and Joaquín sees an animal in the attic. He goes up to investigate and finds Aída turned into a monster. Agustín wakes alone and leaves in search of his family. He wanders into the field and transforms into a beast as he screams the names of his relatives.
Aída, breathing with some difficulty, walks towards her cottage. Her sons arrive at the nearly-deserted town next to the field and begin to cough as they breathe the fumes in the air. Their mother greets them in her home, and during lunch Agustín notices some dark lumps on her skin. He goes to sleep in the double bed, and Joaquín goes into the bathroom and is frightened by the sight of a strange mark on his body. Back in the living room, Aída tells her son that she doesn’t want to leave her home. A plane is heard outside and Joaquín searches for it from the window. He doesn’t find it, so he goes out to the backyard to look for it in the sky and sees a strange figure through the attic window. He climbs up to investigate, and there he finds Aída, who embraces him from behind with her hands turned into claws. Agustín wakes groggily and alone. He goes out to the backyard and finds the clothes of his mother and brother on the grass. He runs through the field in search of his family as lumps start appearing all over his body. His stride turns animalistic and he falls to the ground between the soybean stalks, turned into a beast, as he screams the names of his relatives.
