I would like to take this opportunity to
present myself and my CV in a form of Cover Letter. I’m a Translator on the
following pair of idioms:

English (US and GB) ↔ Portuguese (PT and BR); French
(FR) ↔ Portuguese (PT and BR); Spanish (SP) ↔ Portuguese (PT and BR); Esperanto
↔ Portuguese (PT and BR).

My name is Luís Pereira, 33 years old, living
in Oporto and according to my main experience in relation with Translation
area, I'm currently a Translator/Proofreader for "QVO LEGIS" since
2016 and for "Notas Soltas" since 2019. My previous and the most
important experiences as a proofreader/translator were as follows:

- in Economy, Management and Marketing area for
“Media XXI”, in Oporto, between January and August 2013 as a freelancer. Since
the beginning of 2016, I was accepted playing the same functions on a voluntary
basis in the following digital projects: “AMARA” and “Coursera”. Nonetheless,
during my working and academic life till nowadays, I had to maintain a “day
upon day” contact frequency, not only in a conversational but mainly in a
reading and in a writing basis with other languages besides the native one such
as English (US and GB), Spanish (ES) and Portuguese (BR).

Practically speaking, the necessity to
establish contacts orally and in writing with clients and foreign departments,
for my professional development, as well as the need to be more accurate with
the reading and the writing with foreign teachers and scientific researchers
(respect to my academic life) allowed me to reach an advanced level with
Spanish (SP) and Portuguese (BR) – reading, writing and comprehension - and a
fluent level with English (US and GB) - reading, writing, comprehension and
oral communication. The English course I have accomplished in 2009 helped me to
set skills. On the other hand, my working practice since I started my Ph.D. in
Sociology’s (2015) till now contributed to upgrade them.

I have work experience
dealing with texts from humanities or social areas, in general (for example,
Fine Arts, Theatre or Performing Arts, Architecture, History, History of Art,
Archeology, Museum Studies, Law, Philosophy, Geography, Economics / Management
Studies and Marketing, Political Science, Communication Sciences and
Journalism, Pedagogy and Education Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, Literature
and Linguistic Studies, International Relations, Theology and Religious
Studies) as also with texts from specific and / or technical areas / sciences
(for example, Biology, Geology, Computer Sciences and Programming, Computer
Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Power Engineering,
Renewable and Nonrenewable Energies, Information and Communication
Technologies, Nutrition and Human Kinetics, Sport, Customer Care). I have work
experience with SDL TRADOS Studio and Across regarding CAT Tools. To sum up, I
believe I’ve demonstrated flexibility, responsibility and ability to work
towards specific goals. I am totally available to provide any further
