Bio

A Dutch wordsmith looking to further hone his skills.

After graduating from the Translation Academy in Maastricht, the Netherlands, I decided to work on my commercial skills, when I was offered to become a store manager for G-Star Raw, a Dutch designer clothing company. After a year of getting the hang of managing a store, my inner translator surfaced and whispered: You did not study to spend your days in this beautiful store with great clothes. You studied to become a translator. So be a translator.

So, I took my first step into the mysterious world of translation by becoming a project manager for a Dutch translation agency, followed by doing the same job in Valencia, Spain, a year later. During those periods, I have learned a lot about one side of the picture: How to work with translators, understanding how hard and difficult their (our) profession is, and what it takes to meet the wishes of clients. March 2018 is when I decided to try my luck and see if I could hack it as a translator, and I have to say: it has been one of the best decisions of my life.

All of the things I mentioned before, make me a better translator. I have seen both sides of the coin, so I know what is asked of translators on a daily basis. I learn every day, and I try to do the utmost to make both clients and myself a satisfied and happy person.
