"I started being vegetarian after working in a meat factory during my Australian Working Holiday in 2009. I am now mentally tortured of everything that I saw and heard at that time. Travelling by car, I passed a calf and thought 'You are going to be dragged to the meat factory. I'm sorry'. I also started to think that we humans are predators. After which, i quit working in the factory."
English to Tagalog: The Power Of Six by Pittacus Lore

Marina is introduced in the story right from the start. She lives in a religious community for children in need. Along with her is Adelina and a few friends she has at the school in Santa Teresa, Spain. Marina greatly dislikes the school.
After failing to adapt to life on Earth and blend in, Number Seven, Marina, and her Cêpan, Adelina, went to the Santa Teresa convent/orphanage and had been living there for 10 years.
