Portuguese to English: IT aspect of a business proposal: European Portuguese into English translation
Translation - English Vertical Scalability
Vertical scaling (to scale up) means adding resources to a single node in the system. This typically involves adding more processors (CPUs) or memory to a single server.
Horizontal Scalability
Horizontal scaling (to scale out) means adding more nodes to a system. For example, adding a new server to a distributed systems architecture. A good example is Internet applications that can be hosted on one Web server or on many.
The applications are designed to be scalable. The development is made on ASP.NET 2.0 or higher, with tasks executed by different threads (simultaneous task processing), which enables them to make use of multi-processor servers and 64-bit architecture. On the other hand, they are also designed to be served by multiple Web servers with no session loss.

Experience
Years of experience: 12. Registered at ProZ.com: Jun 2010.
I am a freelance translator with 17 years of translating experience, 5.5 years of editing and proofreading experience.
NATIVE LANGUAGE My native language and the only language I translate into is English. I also speak and translate from Portuguese and Spanish. My level of Portuguese is approximately native, as I lived there many years and studied as well. My Spanish is fluent, and I also lived in Mexico a few years. I lived in the US for awhile, and am currently residing in Canada. This lived experience has given me years of cross-culture and language experience to draw from.
SPECIALIZATION I specialize in translating Portuguese or Spanish into English in the following fields: * Financial/Economics * Legal (contracts and law) * Medical/pharmaceutical * And I have done some technical work (engineering and similar)
EXPERIENCE My first 7 years of translating were working full-time for a small agency called Language International Ministries, in Brazil, during which time I mainly translated, but also did conference interpretation and miscellaneous audio dubbing work. After that I worked as an English language editor and proofreader for 5.5 years, living in the USA and in Mexico.
Since then I have freelanced as a translator mostly, with some simultaneous interpreter work. I am currently based in Calgary, Canada.
FORMATS AND DELIVERABLES I work with text editors, including MS Word, as well as SDL Trados and WordFast Pro. I also work with MS Excel, PowerPoint and others. I am good at formatting deliverables to approximate the source text. This is within reason, of course, as I don't do full layout. But certificates or tables and stamps, etc., are formatted properly for a clean deliverable.
AVAILABILITY Please ask as this changes regularly. I translate full-time and can deliver on average 3-5k words per day, depending on the format and type of text.
