English to Hebrew: Excerpt from “Notes on the Translator’s Involvement in the Text”
Translation - Hebrew There is no wonder in the fact, that the translation of Arabic literature into Hebrew poses a problem for the Israeli publisher, since not only can’t this publisher, who doesn’t know the language, judge the quality of the work by himself, but also, in most cases, he cannot take help from the judgment of foreign publishers (British, French, German and others), who in turn, do not themselves translate a great deal from Arabic. Therefore, a situation arises where the translation of a novel or a collection of stories has become the sole dominion of a precious few people who know Arabic.
