Nobody can say beforehand which childhood incidents will remain in or wipe out from one’s mind forever. To keep in mind or not never follows any particular rule. This is the mystery of memory. At the age of five, I came to stay at Bhabanipur permanently from Gharpar, my birth place. I completely forgot the day I came to our new home from the old one, but I can clearly recollect even today the simple dream I had regarding our cook’s son Haren.
English to Bengali: A piece from Wren & Martin's on reading habits

Happy is the man who acquires the habit of reading when he is young. He has secured a life-long source of pleasure, instruction and inspiration. So long as he has his beloved books, he need never feel lonely. He always has a pleasant occupation of leisure moments, so that he need never feel bored. He is the possessor of wealth more precious than gold. Ruskin calls books , ‘kings’, ‘treasures’ – treasures filled, not with gold and silver and precious stones, but with riches much more valuable than these-knowledge, noble thoughts and high ideas. Poor indeed is the man who does not read, and empty is his life.
