Bio
After earning my high school diploma from the French Lycee School in Cairo, I joined the American University in Cairo, majoring in Business Administration and graduating in 1983. While living in the USA during the years [ 1976 to 1980 ], I took up elective courses at Los Angeles City College in California for two straight years [ 1978 to 1980 ].

After my graduation, I went into the business area, working in the banking and in the hotel industries. However, I gave in to my natural leanings towards linguistics and started working as an Editor/Translator at Reuters news agency’s Cairo Office.

In October 1989, a challenging career was in the making as I began translating and editing English news items and features in English spanning such versatile fields as politics, economics and art.

In 1995, I attended a course in economic news writing - at Reuters' regional headquarter in Cyprus- which enhanced my writing skills and enabled me to render an outstanding Arabic version of economic and financial news.

During my work for Reuters I received excellent training in cultural news coverage and wrote several features in both Arabic and English (Examples include but are not limited to: The Market of Paintings in Egypt, Surrealist Art & the Exhibition of Salvador Dali in Cairo, The History and Future of Stained Glass in Egypt, etc…)

In 2004, I decided to go freelance and took daily assignments by "Al Marsad" independent news service, based in Paris. Al-Marsad’s mandate consists of providing its clients in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East at large with a translation into Arabic of news items of interest reported by the foreign media. I am currently tasked with English/French/Arabic translations and have received highly positive feedback on the quality of my work.

In addition to my work with Al-Marsad, I have translated large documents and books on a freelance basis as well since the year 1998 to the present time. A number of examples are listed below:

- Legal reports (international law) for the International Human Rights Law Institute based in Chicago (into Arabic).

- Parts of a book titled: Killer Wives" authored by the former head of the Egyptian Interpol (into English).

- Sizeable reports and projects for the UNDP and UNESCO (into Arabic).

- A booklet for King Abdullah Financial District in Saudi Arabia (into Arabic).

I love to read and have great passion for art and handicrafts such as painting on wood and producing stained and fused glass items. While living in the USA, I studied drawing, design and pottery at L.A. City College and attended a 3-year course in glass sculpture at the Art Glass Museum in Cairo. I also participated in several collective exhibitions, including one at the Opera House.
