About me:
I took my first steps towards the world of translation when my family moved to Germany when I was just 14 years old. My firm resolve to NEVER learn German and never be happy about our move to Europe was quickly replaced by a love for the culture and people of Germany, who encouraged me to try my hand at speaking German -- and within a very short time, I was communicating in my second language like a pro!
After finishing school, I decided to take my language skills one step further and study German and Russian at the University of Leeds in England. Upon finishing my degree, I began working as an in-house translator for a small, family-run translation agency in Surrey. After a few years as a translator, I moved on to project management, honing my communication skills and client/vendor management approach.
In 2012, I left the translation agency to embark on a career as a freelance translator, eventually establishing my own company, Bright Light Translation, in March 2014.
Bright Light Translation is a relatively new company, but its foundations are firmly based in years of experience in translation, editing, terminology management and consultation services.
Although Bright Light Translation provides its services for a range of fields, our expertise lies in technical translation, particularly of documentation pertaining to lighting management systems, building automation, lighting design, emergency safety systems, indoor and outdoor lighting and building specifications. Other fields of specialisation include weighing instruments, IT and software interfaces, warehouse logistics management systems, information technology, laboratory equipment, industrial production line systems, and technical and software manuals of all kinds.
