Hi All,

If you could post the word for 'soul' in your language here, I'd be very grateful.

All the best, and with much ψυχη/inima/soul/alma/anima/âme/seele from Athens!

In which context? Apr 3, 2016

In Dutch soul = ziel, geest, bezieling,...., but in a musical context it is "soul".

I know you mean in a spiritual context so the answer is : Lélek or szellem (less often used)
Lélek can also mean (there wasn't a soul in the village) person.

Alma (fem).

Grammar: "el alma" and not *la alma* because it begins with a stressed "a", just like "el águila".

Greetings.

I wold like to know how it sounds, is it possible to provide a transcription into Latin?

In Croatian, it is: duša (in most general terms) (pronun. doosh-ah)

Anam. Which can change in various ways e.g. the poem "M'anam do sgar riomsa araoir" ('My soul parted from me last night'). That being Gaeilge na hAlban as opposed to my school Gaeilge na hÉireann - but that particular word is common.

Similar to Arabic and Hebrew, روح as distinct from nafs (نفس)
