abi: "older brother" , çünkü:"because"

in turkish we say brother in 2 ways. Older brother means "abi", and younger brother means "kardes".

\"Ağabey\" is the correct word but in oral language we use a more simple word, \"abi\"

Older brother, elder brother veya big brother.

Big brother da olabilir hatta kisinin neyi kastettigine bagli olarak 'big brother' daha duzgun tercume olur, neyi kastedilgine bagli olarak.

to add one more to the above which are all true:

"abi" is short slang for "ağabey=brother" BUT it's usage varies so widely (and even wildly) that it's not unheard of a WOMAN being addressed as "abi". hence, in this context, it can correspond to the similar address "man" in english.

AND the fact that i'm not providing the explanation in indonesian doesn't mean i miss the fact that the asker makes a laughing stock of us here!
