Spanish term

falso liso

Spanish to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Clothing, Fashion, Textiles
Example: Tejido en falso liso de algodón

There is one other entry for "falso liso" here on ProZ, which states that this means "faux texture" or "faux textured." This makes sense, but I've never heard the term "faux textured" in English. Is there another option?

Alison Trujillo (asker) Sep 19, 2023:
Yes, it looks like "false plain" is the best term. Thanks.
Lisa Rosengard Sep 19, 2023:
There's a reference to fake plains or false woven styles which are different weaving patterns for plain coloured suit wear or shirts with collars which were created in Oxford for the first time with blue woven textile in a faint horizontal and vertical threaded style of fabric creation. Cotton fabrics are used to make smart casual wear, firstly for men in striped or diagonal woven styles of material for clothes.

Thanks Anyway, the question has been satisfactorily answered before in my opinion. If you agree, Alison, perhaps you could close it.

I think "faux" sounds a bit better than "false", but maybe that's just me.
ormiston Sep 19, 2023:
False plain explained online I believe it just refers to a non-solid color that reads as a solid. For example, boucles or tweeds that are brown and white (or black and white, etc) can "read" solid brown at a distance.
