Spanish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals generic drug strategies
As before, this is a document on generic drug strategies.

@Virginia You're right. I should have changed my settings. I apologize.
Virginia Koolhaas Jan 19, 2011:
Business question The question should have been put under "Business"/"Economics" category as it is a Business or even better "Economics" question and not "Medical"

My take on it.

I understand 'product segment' as a very specific 'segment' within a given 'sector'; an example off the top of my head would be, say, a cough medicine especially for 'tickly coughs'.

Well, I understand this as 'market speak', really (originating from the US); I must concur, that when I mentioned 'very specific' earlier, I most definitely had 'niche' in mind (couldn't think of it, but wanted to say that). I agree that 'by product segment' is pretty opaque; but I also know the world of pharmaceuticals is pretty much about trading commodities on the open market, which would explain the sort of language used here.
Note from asker:
I must be slow today. What do you understand by 'product segment'? (BTW, your suggestion is what I wrote in my draft, but I couldn't figure out what it meant.)
What would you think of 'in each product niche'? (I'm also confused by "por" in this case.)
