Doesn't "linteens" look like "lentinas"?
Roxanna Delgado Mar 21, 2007:
Funny as it is, look what I found now, but just one reference:
Types
Patties
Also commonly known as Neurological Swabs, Surgical Strips or Sponges.

Micro-patties

Linteens
large surgical strips, without tail strings
liz askew Mar 20, 2007:
Just for info: "patties" are also home-made burgers made from beef mince. My mum used to make them and serve them up with gravy! [That's what this word makes me think of!]

Well Roxane, I don't know what will be the name in English, but I found the definition of what it is. I hope it helps.

packing

"Patties" might be a UK thing. Here in the U.S. we use "packing," "surgical packing," or "nasal packing" if you want to be more specific.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Roxanna Delgado : Jason, there are lots of ref. with surgical patties from U.S. sites. I think the difference is the patties have the x-ray detectable strips.

Could be, I've found Google to be almost useless for this kind of terminology. I've just never heard or used patties before. We use packing all the time, with or without the strip. Patties certainly fits the definition, though. SaludoZ!
