Discussion

Imane Ben Lakehal Sep 28, 2021:
Yeah coat of arms, I totally agree with you
Muriel Vasconcellos Sep 28, 2021:
More likely... 'coat of arms'. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Castile_and_Le...
While it's divided into four quarters, there are only two different symbols.

In heraldry, an escutcheon (/ɪˈskʌtʃən/) is a shield that forms the main or focal element in an achievement of arms. The word is used in two related senses. First, as the shield on which a coat of arms is displayed; second, a shield can itself be a charge within a coat of arms.

The doubloon only shows the quarters, not the whole shield with the crown
Peer comment(s):

agree Muriel Vasconcellos : In this case, maybe just 'coat of arms'. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Castile_and_Le...

In this case, looking at the coin, it is just a part of the coat of arms.
