see explanation below:
the outcome/result causes/raises/inspires a certain distrust/mistrust (of)
una cierta = a certain
mistrust, distrust (vv.)
Mistrust means “to doubt, to lack confidence in,” as in I mistrust his ability to persuade her. Distrust means much the same but adds suspicion to the mix: He distrusts her because he thinks she’ll cheat him.

Distrust implies an absence of trust: He has an innate distrust of foreigners.
Mistrust, the weaker word, implies a hesitation to trust: He lacked confidence, and mistrusted his own judgment in such things

mistrust or distrust will depend on your context.

: Tu frase es correcta pero me parece que "some" sería "una (desconfianza)". aquí se refiere a una desconfianza concreta ("cierta") y creo que se debe usar "a certain". salu2 :)

X results in some mistrust OR X gives rise to some suspicion
Claro, sin la FRASE ENTERA, es imposible el bien hacer/traducir..
el español el resultado suscita seria probablemente
sujeto [que no está] + results in or gives rise to + SOME mistrust or suspicion

--------------------------------------------------
cierta=some en inglês aqui....NO certain
--------------------------------------------------

FINAL: X elicits a certain amount of mistrust
ahora que me vino el verbo correcto...creo que si, se puede decir. a certain amount of...faltava el elicits..:)

the outcome raises some doubt
I think "desconfianza" here simply means 'lack of confidence' -- it's not as strong as 'mistrust'.
