Same context as my previous question. The text is from an art exhibit of Mexican calendar art. Here, they are talking about the calendars that had illustrations of Hollywood stars, and how Mexicans saw these representations.
Grandes luminarias y filmes quedaron resguardados en el cromo, como parte de una época de oro que dio significado, de nueva cuenta, al auge de una clase media que, a manera de espejo, convivía con su realidad cotidiana de frente al cinematógrafo. La sociedad podía incluso apoderarse de los rostros y gestualidad de los artistas que, eclipsados en abanicos de cartón sonreían a sus propietarios en el espacio íntimo del hogar.
No acabo de comprender bien el significado de la frase completa. Tampoco entiendo ese "de frente". Mil gracias por cualquier sugerencia. Llevo ya todo el día con esto y tengo el cerebro frito.

No has visto nunca el Truman Show, donde todo lo que vivía el protagonista era filmado sin saberlo? Esto es algo diferente, pero me parece que el espejo es a modo de ilustración del reflejo en la cámara de una vida diaria como si fuera un espejo.
Yo creo que yo usaría 'to the importance or prevalence of a middle class which, resembling a mirror (o as a mirror would) - shared its daily existence in front of a cameraman.

Algo como importance... en vez de prosperity. Es decir, para mí el auge es la cumbre, por eso también te puse prevalence o incluso preponderance.

I understand it to mean that the golden age of the cinema in a way mirrored the life of the (then) prosperous middle-class and the middle class in turn had to share their daily lives - their reality- with that of the screen - with the cinema where they their lives reflected.
