Hi all, looking for a suitable war metaphor to match the original here and I'm not very inspired on a Sunday. Any ideas?

Or how about: "now on combat rations and licking our wounds..."
Peer comment(s):

agree William Shaw : in the midst of a scuffle and bearing our wounds

agree Ruth Ramsey : I would say that "zafarrancho" is literally "havoc", but this translation sounds more natural.

In the full havoc of combat and suffering from injuries

Another version.

19 hrs

(in the midst of) the full devastation of combat and suffering from wounds.

I think this would be closer literally to the text.
