Spanish term

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering geotechnical report
Hola!

I am having difficulty translating this term, taken from a geotechnical report on the construction of a kiosk and swimming pool.
The term appears in the dynamic penetration results section of the report, as follows (underneath the chart):

So far, I have come up with two possibile translations: rejection, unnacceptable or penetration blow per set.

I hope someone can help!

Gracias!

refusal

In a SPT, the number of blows needed to penetrate 150mm into the ground are counted and recorded. If a defined maximum (usually 50 or 60), is reached, "refusal" is given as a result for the interval.

Tailing

I've found that a South American (Chilean) use of "rechazo" translates as "tailing" in the context of mining.

The OED defined tailing as: n. 1 the residue of something, especially ore 2. the part of a beam or projecting brick or stone embedded in a wall

The second definition sounds like it might be in the right context for your text.

Sorry for putting this twice, but I entered my answer into the wrong box the first time :)
Peer comment(s):

disagree Sergio Campo : Timo, I am afraid "tailing" is wrong in this specific context (penetration test)
