Spanish term

compraventa de participaciones sociales

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) Corporate / shares
This is for a notarial document (escritura de compraventa de participaciones sociales) and I have lots of doubts as there are different aswers also on proz.

Would appreciate your suggestions for the standard term equivalent for the above thanks.

Richard Boulter Aug 1, 2010:
More context Well, we simply need some of the actual text in order to guess what the better translation would be. It could also be more polished by translating this differently as a document title from the translation in the body of the text. Also, source- and target-country info would help. :)

trading of limited liability company shares

Tom West's Dictionary has the following information:
Participación Social (Perú) - share of a "sociedad comercial de responsabilidad limitada [called "cuota social" in ARgentina and Venezuela, and "parte social" in Mexico.

Pursuant to the above, my translation of "participación social / cuota social / parte social" would be "limited liability company share" or "limited liability company stock"

"Compraventa" refers to trading on the stock market in this case.

Hope this helps.
In my 22nd year of translating from Spanish into English almost exclusively for Mexico City based member firms of international public accounting firms, both big 4 and 2nd tier firms, along with other financial entities.

Thank you, AMendoza. Saludos from Mexico City, Richard
neutral cmwilliams (X) : I don't think 'trading' is the best term here. It's most likely a contract between two parties for the purchase/sale of shares.

disagree Edward Tully : 1) no reason to assume this is a limited liability co. 2) this text refers to the acquisition of shares by shareholders, nothing to do with trading!
