Spanish term

secavisores

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Specifications for cables in electrical wiring for a truck. One of the features of the switch panel connector is the "electroválvula de los secavisores".
Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks to everyone for your contributions. I eventually opted for "viewfinder dryer" on the client's advice.

neutral liz askew : interesting concept, do soldiers have wipers on their goggles then, like windscreen wipers. Now this is a new one for me.

windshield defroster/defogger

Total guess here. Couldn't find ANYTHING related to "secavisores" anywhere on the web. This guess is based on the given context. An "electroválvula" is a solenoid. Which could trigger the operation of either a mechanical or an electrical device (i.e., to power a windshield wiper motor or send a warming current through heating wires embedded in a windshield). I don't know how this could be a "feature" of a switch panel connector, as it seem to be rather a unit unto itself. But it does seem to be something that is an integral part of the truck (as opposed to a set of goggles, for example). So, maybe this is some colloquial term or industry specific jargon. My advice is ask the client. Suerte!

Another possibility is that this solenoid controls a wiper for the headlamps. In any case, I found this link: http://www.cmearma.com/index.html which may be helpful if your source text contains part numbers. If so, you may be able to look up each item by part number and get the exact English equivalent. Good luck!

Secavisores

If it is a conventional vehicle, "visores" can be the widshield. If a combat vehicle, it would be closer to vision blocks a thick wall glass or plastic block, fitted into an opening in the armor. A winshield wiper wouldn't be practical, so most times they are kept clean with an air blast or a combination of a liquid jet followed by an air blast. This mode of operation requires an electrically operated air valve. Reference below shows a civilian application (look for windshield washer system)
