(army) recruitment office

This would be the equivalent in English. You could argue that "recruitment" implies a degree of free will, while the "vojni odsek" is not quite the same!

But they are calling it "Army Careers" more and more now, so I think this is still better!

BTW, the website below is not working at the moment, but you will find the term there.

In answer to Olga's comment, I think this is open for discussion. It depends what the aim of the text is. If it is a general text where the exact nature of this "vojni odsek" is not important to the reader, then I would say "Army recruitment office" is fine, as such a thing exists in English and would be recognised by a reader. Also, it would be in keeping with the spirit of the English language and of dynamic translation.

The phrases "military section" and "military office" do not exist in English (try a Google search - they are used, but not to mean anything like vojni odsek), so I would avoid them if at all possible as they do not convey anything like the original meaning, and don't SOUND English.

Now if it is very important for the reader to know that we are talking about the exact Serbian bureaucratic institution known as "vojni odsek" then I would translate something like,

"You need to take these documents to the local Army office (vojni odsek)..."

Again, it depends on your target readership...

neutral V&M Stanković : Traži se PREVOD, a termini „military“, „section“, „office“, “department“ i sl. POSTOJE u engl. jez, dok „vojni odsek“ NE postoji u Engleskoj i očito to nije isto što i „recruitment office” u UK Army.
