Serbian term

preuzet

Serbian to English Law/Patents
Zakon je preuzet iz bivse SFRJ.

Treba mi jedna rec za "preuzet" (ne bih koristila frazalni glagol).

Hvala svima unapred.

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Feb 23, 2003:
How about "assume"? Can a law be "assumed", as in "assume responsibility" and similar expressions? I'm afraid that this word, if used in this context, can make a confusion.
What do you think?

adopted (from)

The word "preuzet" is translated as "adopted" at the ICTY - at least it was when I worked there - when referring to an article adopted from e.g. the Constitution of the former Yu. This translation was approved by a team of native-born English language revisors.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you very much, Pavle. This is the word I need. I have posted the same question in the English monolingual pair (since I am in a hurry - it' s a rush job) and got the same answer. Jonathan, thank you also very much. Best regards, olyx "

presumably

The law is presumably from the former SFRJ.
I hope this helps.
