Russian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature children's literature

did not want to get involed (in all the fuss)

did not want to get involed (in all the fuss)

You probably are after a very flowery wording but I would probably write simply - did not want to get involed. You might add - in all the fuss but that is up to you.

get bogged down in a quagmire

Oh, how reluctant the Marsh King (or whatever you call him) was to get bogged down in this quagmire!
(This seems a particularly appropriate metaphor for a Marsh King!)
