: Can you please specify where they use this term? In the US, there is a standard term for it - ROI, but I wouldn't want to look like an imposing yank here.

ROI is calculated as follows
ROI (Return on Investment) - as opposed to ROA (Return on Assets, which may include borrowed funds). This is a standard, universally recognized term in the US accounting/investment analysis system. I don't see a need to reinvent the bycilce here.

Your reference describes (in a fairly weird way, I've never seen this term before - and I have an MBA in Finance)what is known in the US as a dividend payout ratio. This is a totally different metric.
