The translation I'm doing uses this phrase and some others like it, a lot. I tend to think it's the Engine. But it seems to include a "propulsor de proa" as well. They do use "Casa das Máquinas" in another sense, though.

power plant
of the ship. It is the engine/s. Casa das máquinas is engine room, etc. Em "propulsor de proa" engine probably works best.

I agree that propulsor might conceivably refer to props / prop systems; but asker can certainly ascertain that from context.
Power plant includes also auxiliary equipment involved in producing and transmitting power.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "It was extremely hard to award points on this one. All of you helped a lot, one way or another.
Sue Simmons, helped with the "bow thruster" which, I'm sure is indeed the "propulsor de proa".
And Antonio Ribeiro included, what I deem to be the correct answer in the body of his answer, but for some reason, didn't choose it as his answer.
So I had to go with Amilcar who did, indeed, give me "Power Plant".
I would like to sincerely thank you all. You've been very helpful indeed!!"

Bow thruster
Without the sentence, it is not easy to see what you want. But these are props (one of two - usually one)placed on the bow just under the high water mark (plimsoll line) to facilitate the manoevreing of the ship on to its mooring .

Thruster system
Although my first impression was to agree with Sue Simmons on "bow thruster", it seemed to me that the larger vessels would require more than just bow thrusters, even with the help of tugs to assist them in docking. Found the URL below, which seems to support that (although "bow thruster" is indeed correct for those locate towards the bow).
