'you and I shared some things' OR: 'you and I exchanged some things'

From the string, it doesn't look to me as if the things [plural?] were exchanged, just shared, but I may be missing something. Of course, any language but English would put the first person first, as we do in the vernacular:

"me and you shared/exchanged things"
