What Is an Overdraft?
An overdraft is an extension of credit from a lending institution that is granted when an account reaches zero. The overdraft allows the account holder to continue withdrawing money even when the account has no funds in it or has insufficient funds to cover the amount of the withdrawal.

To anticipate and pre-empt any criticism of 'facility' as being redundant and otiose. an overdraft - besides being a 'line of credit' - can also be an 'unarranged' overshoot, as penalty-charging UK banks are wont to remind some of us.

Thx, Mario. Facility is crucial, plus hyphens - like pre-Revolutionary POR accents - are meant to be markers of how words break or fit. PS a brother of mine has published books in ENG with no hyphens or dashes at all, making some phrases ambiguous-
