Norwegian term

driftsovertakelse

Norwegian to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
This has to do with a tender specification "tilbudsbeskrivelse" by an IT company. Examples:

I've come across it before and found out that it must mean "outsourcing" (of a company's IT operations to an outside IT consultancy company). But would really appreciate a second opinion here.

outsourcing of IT operations

Ordet "overtakelse" betyr at man "tar over" mens outsourcing betyr at man "gir bort". Drift betyr IT-drift (IT operations) eller nettverksdrift (networking).

transfer of business functions

You are right about "outsourcing" of course. However, I find that the word has a cheap 'ring' to it - it reminds me of non-native speakers on the service hotline et c.

Unfortunately I don't know any short synonyms:(

The transfer of business functions to an independent (internal and/or external) third party supplier.
www.thebci.org/Glossary.pdf

To determine the true market value of any particular transfer of business functions, individually sound economic reasoning and analyses are required. ...

Note from asker:
Thanks, Bjørnar. But remember that we're inside the IT world now, and what is being "transferred" is the IT operations, no more. I remember this term drove me crazy the first time, then I finally realised what it actually meant.

agree TechLawDC : "business functions" is right in this context. Maybe "business function areas of the system".

Then "driftsovertakelsesprosjekter" will be "transfer projects for business function areas of the system":)

business process outsourcing

IBM does it; that's why I went to their site at the reference link below to see what they called it. But this may be more than what your client is offering?
Example sentence:

IBM Managed Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) offers you innovative options to combine process, people and technology in outsourced delivery models that create real business value.
