I agree with you, Torarin-san. I did misinterpret your first hint and could have avoided that with a bit more thought.

'Hydraulic actuators" are not likely to be triggered hydraulically, especially when used in such complex and precise work coordinations. They simply controls the delivery of a driving force of hydraulic nature.

In fact, it would be a terrible system design to have the signals that control those actuators depend on same source as the driving force they deliver. Should that source become defective, this would greatly compound the risks of malfunction, i.e. not just, as in this case, in terms of the adequacy of the force delivered, but in terms of the reliable execution of the actuation program. 'Actuators' and 'Machine tool business ends' have to be governed via totally separate and different (i.e. electric/tronic / hydraulic) channels. That is a must.

So thanks for your tactful and diplomatic correction (you could have 'flamed me' for that one, ha ha! :-) )

Let me explain the structure of the hydraulic actuators.

There are multiple hydraulic actuators
連動 means the actuators are simultaneously operated in a coordinating way. (I was not sure if "interlock" works here)
Hydraulic fluid is delivered from a pump through diverging passages to the actuators which eventually 連動.
分流による損失 means the amount of the fluid delivered to each actuator may vary;
for example, 30 ml of fluid is originally supplied, but (ignore the number) actuator 1 has received 15 ml and actuator 2 has received 10 ml. There is 5 ml of loss (efficiency loss).

So the response time of the actuators may drop due to 連動.

What is the 'big picture' of this fix? True: "speed" is not used solely to define the rate of displacement of an object per unit of time; but in this context, wouldn't "response time" be more suitable when qualifying an actuator?

Torarin-san informs us that the actuator is hydraulically triggered. Could this help us clarify the sense that 分流 implies?
This term seems to imply that several actuators are involved and weaken the drive circuit pressure concurrently.

As to 連動による, would "servo-controlled" fit the context more clearly?

There is still a lot of 'unknowns' in the text supplied, but would be inclined to make sense of the big picture which this passage seems to allude to, as follows:

"Mitigating the response time drop of the servo-controlled actuators [will?/can?] reduce the efficiency losses which the system incurs as the respective status transition timings of the said actuators overlap for too long, and causes the hydro-circuit pressure to drop."

Now if this is what is happening, the next job is to bring this back to the size of the original text.
