Japanese term

社団法人

Japanese to English Law/Patents Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.) Standard specs
I found this word on a page where they list all the organizations responsible in making the specs.
The line looks like this:
原案作成協力者 社団法人 日本計量機器工業連合会
I ran the word through my translator and it gave me the word "Corporation". Is it correct?

none (or JMIF)

The word you are looking for is not "社団法人" but " 社団法人 日本計量機器工業連合会"

Japan Measuring Instruments Federation

The "社団法人" only indicates its legal status and is not part of the name.

It is not part of the name _in English_, which is what matters here, and is usually not used when referring to the group in Japanese either. The name that will be commonly used is "日本計量機器工業連合会", or most likely "JMIF" (pronounced the Japanese way) as this page seems to indicate: http://www.keikoren.or.jp/jmif/index.html. Although they probably have a short name that uses the Japanese characters too.

It is not difficult to translate because it does not need translation :)
Note from asker:
Thank you so much for your help. I will add a footnote for this word, just in case there are any questions asked about this word. It is rather difficult to translate, isn't it?

incorporated association

I don't really speak Japanese, but the Japanese KANJIs are almost all the same as Chinese Characters, since they came from Chinese, and Chinese and Japanese share many common legal terminologies. A Chinese and a Japanese may not understand each other when they speak, but if they communicate with each other by writing, they may understand each other very well.
