operating loss ¥1.5bn (down ¥2.2bn YoY, falling to a loss)

It's a bit tricky to express succinctly in English. The first part is quite clear, and the figure in brackets shows the change over the period (so the previous period must have had an operating profit of ¥0.7bn, 7億円). 「赤字転落」 means that it fell from a profit to a loss. The 「同」 means 'in the same terms' referring back to earlier in the passage, so I would imagine it means 'year-on-year' if this is about annual results (but it might be quarter-on-quarter, depending on the preceding context). Having 赤字転落 means you can't use a word like 'fell' because you have a profit in one period and a loss in the next.
Note from asker:
Hi, Duncan, I think you are absolutely right in getting the meaning of the partial sentence I have provided. I referred the contents once again, and found that the「同」 here means is [yoy basis]. And the most important part you have pointed out is the 「赤字転落」. It seems teh company made profit last year, but this year it made a loss.
