neutral  DCypher (X): both incagli and sofferenze might qualify as impaired (i.e., specific provisions). What is needed here is a credit manager's classification rather than accounting classification.

Thanks for your valuable comments. My point is that such terms are specifically banking terms, so the definitions given by Bank of Italy should be quite relevant. Moreover the term "substandard loans" is used in AbaxBank and BNL's Reports. Perhaps the context should suggest the best choice.

neutral  DCypher (X): 'Sub-standard' is term used by banks and finance cos. for high risk loans (eg to sub-standard borrowers) which yield a higher return but...are still performing loans. Abax, BNL and BofI, alas, are subject to the same translation errors as other clients.
